Presenter for Big Talks from Small Libraries

Miranda created a webinar about using social media with a focus on blogging for use in the library setting. Her online presentation received rave reviews from an initial, international audience of more than 350 attendees. The webinar can now be viewed on the Nebraska Library Commission website, as well as on YouTube.

Turning the Page 2.0

November 2012

Miranda completed an advocacy training course via a technology grant by Bill and Linda Gates Foundation. The online training included 6 virtual classroom sessions and the completion of an advocacy goal plan. For her advocacy goal, Miranda is developing a teen center at the Platte Public Library in Platte, SD.


South Dakota Library Association

Miranda is a member of the South Dakota Library Association, which works to support the state's private, public and school libraries through advocacy, fundraising, advertising, and social organization.


National Novel Writing Month Winner:

November 2012

Miranda has won NaNoWriMo, a writing contest that requires participants to write 50,000 words of fiction in 30 days for the month of November. She wrote 50,478 words for her upcoming fantasy novel "In Deep."

November 2011

Miranda wrote a 54,000 page first draft to a novel within 30 days to win the National Novel Writing Month competition.
